hey guys,
i have realised my gearbox oil is super low (can only barely touch the bottom of the dipstick) in my manual gearbox (subaru liberty).
As i am going to get a full service done later this week and replace all fluids i will get it replaced anyways however i want to be able to drive it round for the next couple of days still and want to know what the best option is for topping up the manual transmission oil?
I am not sure whats in there at the moment and i will only be having it in there for afew days tops until i get the service.
what gearbox oil should is best incase of mixing?

OK, just to let everyone know i rang up Subaru (as the car was serviced there) always and they said that they use castrol magnatrax 85w90.

A while ago I put two different brand oils in a 4sp box in my old Brumby. It got all very foamy but still worked fine.

If the gearbox is still shifting gears fine with no crunches then you could possibly just wait until the service in a few days time.

it might be okish till the service, but if you're worried put some in 500ml will be ok, but its a pain in the arse to pour it in. Its 85w90 transmission oil
Cheers

Thanks guys, i bought some of the castrol oil in the smaller bottles. i figured i dont want to be forking out for transmission repairs as ive just got the car. there was no crunching but i dont think its worth the risk. Shifting is smooth now, it was really low. needed about 1 litre but now its at the full line.
i cant wait till i get it fully serviced and fixed up :) :) :)
