MIGgers, TIGgers alloy welding Q

Anybody got experience or knowledge of alloy welding. Just wondering if my task is do-able. I have an alloy LPG Impco part I'd prefer to be able to weld to an alloy throttle body. The two are both alloy but from what I gather alloys aren't all the same and compatible when it comes to welding. They are both cast, I have tried another time same thing with alloy melt rods that use a flame to heat bits to just before you melt it and throttle body absorbs heat too quickly and I am scared I'll stuff the throttle body bearings. Think I better go do a night course and learn alloy welding.....

The only problems I can see are what if the throttle body dies , and can the throttle body and its fasteners support the weight of whatever you want to weld to it .
Is it possible to cut threads on the TB's snout and screw something onto it ?

A .

you can weld cast alloy, but cast is softer than normal alloy. A mate of mine is very experienced alloy welder, if u want me give u his number i'm happy to, just ask me in pm.
Cheers

tig's definately the best option, but mig is still ok. i've always been of the belief with mig alloy welding that you put in more alloy than what you need, then sand/grind/file it back. but as you said, the main thing is to heat up with metals first for best results

I think a course will satisfy an old curiosity. The mouth is 60mm so no threading it. And solved the problem with a bit of sleep. Currently using mild steel fitting, was not expecting to get it in steel as twice the price originals are alloy. Was basing all measures on wide clamps, now picked up narrower 8mm hose clamps. I will cut the two butted bits down further requiring less clamp width and get my gains needed there. Suddenly lost the need for alloy welding...again. Thanks for comment and offers guys.

Surprised Tigger hasn't looked in :)
