Hi all
After some advice on the GT40 coil.
Just about to give the car a full service ie plugs, leads etc. Thought I would upgrade to a gt40 coil, would love to go for msd blaster, but economics dictates the bosch for now.
Anyway, rang repco for a price this arvo and was told not suitable fitting for a ea82!??. Asked why was told different fittings ex their listing book.
I know that there are 9v & 12v coils, which I presume an 85 L ea82 is 12v
a gt40r (correct if I'm wrong), so are repco speaking from the wrong end or ?
Can someone confirm before I go shopping.
Thanks ahead
Mark

A GT40R will work straight out of the box, connections are identical to the stock coil.

A GT40RT will also work, I don't remember which one was cheaper, if any.

RT is a resin filled transistor type. R is a standard sized oil filled canister.

GT40RT Pros: small, no oil leaks (if you've ever had a leaking coil you'll know what I mean).
GT40RT Cons: have to use different mounting bracket, it is included though, resin can crack with very heavy shock.
