I want to repaint my L series rear hatch and want to paint under the window rubber seal as it has some rust coming through.
How is the glass removed? It does not seem to want to pry out. does it come out to the rear or the front? Do I have to destroy the rubber seal? have removed the chrome insert but still very hard to get out.
Have Gregorys but in its usual helpful manner it suggests taking it to a professional to remove.

From memory they are glued in , where abouts in perth are you.

2 people and a bit of wire with a pit broom stick at each end and pull in around to brake the seal on the rubber and it will pup it out .
i hate window as i always brake them putting them back in .
pay the $ and get professional to remove and put it back in then if thay brake it thay pay for it .

I am afraid that you are a little wrong with the profesional paying for it if they break it .

if thay will not do it with out responsibility find some one that will as thay pull them out of wrecks all the time and do not brake them .

I have had professionals replace windows they usually state 'all care no responsibility' unless they supply a new window.
I am near Eneabba.
will have a go with the wire.

We are going through Eneabba on Sat on the way to Lake indoon and Stockyard Gully caves.
And Phill you will never find someone that we take responsibility for glass that belongs to the customer , I have been in the windscreen bisiness for 23 years and we just dont do it .

I have been here over 15 years and been to indoon about twice, typical you don't appreciate it when you live in the place, takes tourists to tell you how great it is.
I am in Perth at the moment. visiting rellies.

done this once some time ago, the rear is NOT glued in, the front windscreen is.
Its a pressure fit and the rubber is reusable.
like you, I removed the metal insert, which is a b****, probably can't reuse that.
Its very hard to get out, and you start at one corner, I did it without help.
Surprising how much you can bend the window too!
carefull with hard tools, cause that is what can break it.
It was easier to re-install.
So thats all I can recall, hope it helps.

at least it's toughened glass it is not as sensitive as laminated.
