Hi guys,

I have a 88 touring wagon and im trying to get kyb and king springs for it. But to get the right strut Kyb is asking for my car model. Im not sure what it is and how can i find out?

The KYB website classifies them by a number AC4, AN5, etc, which you will find in your VIN. I expect your car will be AN5, so KYBs will be:

RHF: 333234
LHF: 333235
rear: 341216

The KYB listings also mention power steering, but I'm quite sure that doesn't make a difference.

Half the parts books still list MY parts under L series, and parts guys say "oh so it's a Liberty?"

Yeah careful here....you don't want to go ordering them based on the model of your L series. Although in your case this will technically still get you the right ones, it still depends entirely on how good the guy behind the counter is at using their part number books.

The only way to ensure you get the right ones is to order directly by the KYB part numbers.
I can confirm that those numbers GOD has listed are correct.
These are the best KYB shocks to suit L series for offroad application.


First time I ordered them I got the guy to look up what I needed based on my model (I had a very early 1985 L series touring wagon) and the shocks I got weren't quite as heavy duty and abit lower. Apparently there was some difference with the earlier model of L series. That being said, later on I ended up buying another set for a "1988 touring wagon" and they were way better - these were the numbers listed above.

Note that no matter what varient of L series shocks you get, and no matter what varient of L series you actually have, they will all still bolt in and work anyway.

I love the listings that insist on EA82 as the engine fitted to Brumby after the L series evolved in 85 !!

Springs are easy. Fronts are KFFS-45, rears are KSRS-03. They're shorter than the originals but a fair bit stiffer, so the car ends up higher.

WA Suspensions in ozzy park is a dizzy for them (altho not listed on the kings website) and do good prices.
Otherwise go through wilkinsons or veals.

i have just buy some spring for my back and i did not get kings as thay did not make HD spring for a L series and thay are a lot harder and a bit longer then kings and i have KYBs .I will give u some info on then when i get them and the part number came out of NSW some wear and thay cost me $220 at cost price +post will post pics before and after when i put them in .

i put a new clutch in today did it in about 3hours all up drive away .
