My 1883 4X Coupe.

Post by Zap » Sun Jul 12, 2009 4:37 am

I think it's the only one like it. . . You may remember my silver hatch. Well, I went and bought a coupe, stripped my hatch to nothing, and put everything on the coupe. It started as a fwd 5 speed.
Image

Now it has:
Custom SJR lift kit. 4 inches in the front, and 3 inches in the rear.
Has a 5 speed dual range trans and XT6 clutch kit.
Has a clutch type LSD in the rear.
Has custom made 15 inch Superlite wheels. Origin AU.
Has 27/9.50 Super Swampers SSRs
Has a Weber 32/36 Carb.
It will eventually get an ej22 for a power plant. I possess the adapter kit.

It's not quite done, Today is too busy to work on it. My goal is for it to be on the road Monday. I will post more pics, but till then, there's just this one.

The wheels that were on it are 13s. They're steel, and the blue has been painted on, surface rust too. They are up for grabs, but hardly worth shipping to AU. lol

Ok!! It drives! Had some weird issues at the last minute getting it to fire up, but figured it out. Still need to figure out wiring for the temp sender, oil pressure sender and the gas gage. Need to find a hot wire for the electric choke.
I'll take it in tomorrow to have a muffler fabbed up.

Then we start the body work and the part of the transformation that makes it pretty to the eye.

Not the only one of these, here is mine
Image

Has EJ22, AWD Liberty GB, plated LSD, 5 Stud conversion, RS Liberty brakes, Forester rims and 28in BFG at's. The approach/departure angles on them are great for offroad, similar to your hatch no doubt.

Beeeeautiful car man! Though I'm bummed it's not the first one in the world, I guess I can settle for North America. lol Can I have the title "Only black lifted coupe in the world" ?

If one pops up here, I'm selling it and building something else. :)

The hatches have a way better departure angle than all the others. Front is the same all the way accross the board.

that looks sweet! I wish we had a decent selection of early subarus here in Austin TX. I've been looking for a couple of months and nothing decent around. They all seem to be up your way.

Seattle seems to be the caboolture of the USA ... all the old school subies go there to die.
