gday guys

ok i know ya guna say dumb ? or 2

as some of you know im going to power the new pump truck with my brumby.

so heres ? 1 . do you recon i need to run the charcoal canister
& 2nd should i keep the cat on.

a mate has an 1600 on his truck and has none of the above and it seams to run fine.
the only problem he has . because it dosnt have a govener when he pulls the water on it dies a bit . so he keeps the revs at 2200 and its not to bad.

but steve subi boy has that prob solved.


mounting is a bit tricky but iv overcome that il put up som pics when it runing.


just wanted to hear your ideas

Chuck the charcoal.
If you can keep the cat, keep it. (more enviromental and will help with quietening)

pull as much of the polution rubbish of as possible, I had one ea81 that I ran with very little pollution gear, it was great but in those days we had lead in our petrol not in our water

and if you are going to run it at a static speed advance the timing slightly, you may have to play with it a bit this will compensate for the continuous revs

Charcoal canister will help with tank venting, it slows down evaporation and if the tank heats up too much it stops fuel either pouring out everywhere of in my case pouring into the intake manifold.

Keep the cat, it doesn't affect performance and its cleans the bad pollution

i pulled it out today
man blind fredy could do that what an easy motor to remove

now to mount it for the pump .

it looks like an easy job .

bigest prob iv found is when i make the adapter plate for the extra engine mounts im going to cut the starter mount part of the bell housing . so i reckon im going to machine the thickness of the starter part to alow it to engage as it will be 10 ml away from the flywheel.

or is there a starter that has a longer bendix shaft ?

anyway back to the work shop i gota get this thing up and running.

( hehe now the motors out of the brumby and i have this truck up and running i can go to town on the brumby rebuild )
