Subaru powered VWs

I have recently taken an interest in Subaru powered VWs, after seeing an EJ20T powered Beetle tearing down the quarter mile strip, beating many more fancied rivals.
On further investigation, this type of conversion is becoming more popular amongst the VW fraternity as a more viable option to make their VWs go faster. There are a number of converted road-going Beetles, Type 3s and Kombis all taking advantage of the Subaru powerplants to increase the longevity of their beloved cars.
VWs were one of my first automotive loves, having owned a Beetle as my first car, then later on having two Kombis. The progression into Subarus was almost inevitable, as the basic engine configerations were similar, albiet one air-cooled and one water-cooled. And my growing interest in 4WDing and spending alot of time skiing also helped.
The following link is to a lifted Kombi sporting a 2.7 Vortex 6 cylinder motor, for sale on carsales.com at present:

There are a number of companies now offering conversion kits or drive-in, drive-out full conversions. One is Custom Vee Dub in Stafford, QLD. I saw one of their Kombis at the recent VW Nationals here in Sydney, and the end result was pretty good.
If anyone has any further info on this subject, feel free to post it here for interest. Any photos would be good, too.
Cheers,
