I must be slowing down after having so many birthdays, as the kangaroos around our place seem to be in more of a hurry than I am. Last night (Friday) after driving all the way from Gympie to home near Maryborough with my kids on board (weekend visit), a medium sized roo shot straight into the side of my car, about 100 metres from our driveway. I was only doing about 50 or 60 at that point. Not sure what speed the roo was going when he T-boned me, but he was fairly moving. Big bang and some nasty clunks, I pulled up immediately and carefully reversed up to see how he was doing (I look after wildlife) and he was trying to hop around. He was a bit all over the place and a little lop sided, but got through the fence and off into the scrub before I could even jump out of the car, so hopefully he'll be fine (albeit in need of some Panadol)...

Looks like my big rubber and soft flares saved the day again. Not a mark on the car anywhere, but I could find some slightly cleaner areas on the inside of the rubber flare where he dusted it off for me. Anyway, hopefully he'll slow down and show other road users more respect from now on...

Glad no one was hurt and that the Suby is unhurt, I have seen the mess thay can make if thay hit your door, not nice.
Lucky you were not going any farster, or he mite have got you in the door as well.

I got a lift from a mate once in a Camira stationwagon. Same thing happened, only this 'roo made a huge dent behind the rear wheel underneath the back side window of the wagon. There was a big air gap from the bottom of the window to the edge of the panel that you could put your arm through into the car. We both stood back and my mate said "that was lucky he didn't break the glass" - just as the whole window fell out and smashed on the ground. The car was written off due to its low value and the cost of repairs.

Good news was I talked him into a Subaru as a replacement. One of the first Foresters sold in Canberra! He still has it with over 280,000kms on it.

hehe funny that, about 6 years ago, i wrote off my JE Camira because of the kangaroo! Camira 0, Roo 1 - wrote it off due front end damage, windscreen due low value.. pity was a good car!

Most cars, you get one lemon for every 1000 or so produced. Camira was the other way round. So much for the "Wheels Car Of The Year"

I nearly made the mistake of buying a Camira when I was younger, but the weight of the tailgate put me off, even though the doors closing like a bank vault sounded good (they were extremely heavy too). I decided not to take it on, as the resale value of bog at that time was very low, even with there being a small fortune invested by the owner in the hopes of increasing its appeal.

Thinking back on it all now, if I HAD bought that thing, I would have ended up so toned and muscley with openning and closing those doors and occasional reps of tailgate lifting. Mind you, one little bump from another car and I wouldn't look have so good as I do now... I'd still be picking splinters of bog and rust scales out of everywhere.

i had a roo drop of a six foot cutting in front of my then prize eh ute

also know of a guy had one go through the window of a horse float . kicked sh it outa the horse .did a fair bit of damage to the chaffburner i mite add
