My Power button is flashing when I start the car and after investigation the warning flashes for the Auto are telling me it is a Vehicle Speed Sensor error.
Anyone know where these are and what they look like?
I notice when I first take off the auto holds 1st a bit longer than usual then all is good after the first change. I thought it might be related.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Rob

yeah what he said. is the speedo working? You have either done a speedo cable or the rear speed sensor is faulty. both can be fixed without removing the box from the car

Gdday
I also have the power light flash at me when i first start my liberty LX
My speedo is not working, I have been searching and searching for a fault but have given up and started using a gps for my speed.
Any ideas? front speed sensor seems ok as when i unplug it and go for a drive the check engine light gives a speed sensor code. Where about is the rear sensor located and will the sensor from a manual GX fit?
Cheers!

the rear speed sensor is on the very rear of the gearbox. its black and has a 10mm head bolt holiding it in.
I will have a spare at home if you need one.

If the speedo isn't working. The likely culprit is the speedo cable as the front speed sensor is in the instrument panel and runs off the speedo mechanism.

I had a quick look today but i wasn't able to find it, I have heard the speedo is fed from the speed censor in the front...

I think you may be thinking i have a mechanical connection to the dash? it's all digital.

Mate the speedo is mechanical if you are talking about your liberty lx? The speedo converts it to an electronic signal for the ecu and tcu.
The rear sensor is electronic

ok, got the dash out, definitely no cable running to the speedo, it's the 3 wire connection... I think we may be lost in translation...

I have a Gen1 1991 Liberty LX FWD wagon in my back yard and it has a cable running from the front of the gearbox to a grommet in the firewall beside the brake booster.
Is yours FWD or AWD?
Can you give a better description of your car?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
It's a Gen 2 1995 Liberty FWD LX Auto Wagon,
It has the speed sensor in the front of the gearbox with 2 wires and 3 wires at the back of the speedo, it has no mechanical cable that runs to the back of the speedo, they are all electrical connections.
I checked the connection from the speed sensor to the speedo with a multimeter and they have a good connection so i can only conclude that the front speed sensor needs replacing? I have tried the cluster in my other wagon (94 GX) in witch it works fine.
What puzzles me is that if i disconnected the front speed sensor the computer throws a CEL
Maybe it's working but not generating a strong enough signal to feed the speedo?

We were under the impression you had a Gen1 1989-1993
The speed sensor is simply a magnetic reed switch inside so that when it turns, it gives a pulsing signal. The ECU reads both sensors, even in FWD models
Im pretty sure both manual and auto gearboxes have the same sensor.
