Lets see now, my L series weighs what 1200 kgs ?, and I weigh about 130 kgs, (Yes I am fat, but its all paid for) So if I took off the A/C I would gain approx 15 Kgs all up and sweat heaps more so the potential is there for me to weigh heaps less? That would have to help my power to weight ratio a lot more than just loosing the A/C and be good for me.

The under dash bits weigh bugger all - ally and plastic.

the aluminium underdash freezer bit called an evaporator, comes in at 2.1 kg, the plastic casing would be close to a kilo, the receiver drier wouldn't be a kilo but nearly, EDIT ...comes in at 932g ! and 700g of refrigerant ..... so you could probably safe bet be 18kg worth if not working or wanted and removed. Remove wiring and the amp unit behind glovebox....there is more weight loss. I have the Lotus Elise principle applied too - no radio CD player so the speakers don't need to be there either.

1200 for an L ? My turbo sedan is 1070 ! 1070 + 130 = 1200 . Aren't you supposed to jump out at the weighbridge

I am only guessing here guys, I have not got a clue. So what would an L series wagon weigh?
Might change my thoughts on if wether or not I keep the A/C yet.
And if I get out of the car at the weighbridge, how do I drive it off the weighbridge?

Is that all? I misunderstood the earlier post by Steptoe, I thought he must have meant he had a sedan.
I would have thought the wagon was heavier than that, being 4wd and all!

Manual transmission Subaru weights
Brumby's curb weight is 1018kg
EA81 Wagon curb = 1091kg
EA81 2wd Sedan curb = 993kg
EA82 2wd Sedan curb = 1034kg
EA82 4wd Sedan curb = 1009kg
EA82t 4WD Sedan curb = 1168kg
EA82 4WD Wagon curb = 1179kg

4wd vs 2wd is about 63kg difference IIRC

I was quoting my L Series sedan weight off NSW RTA data sheet for auto 4WD turbo

The Subaru factory manual lists for a the 1986 L series RX turbo sedan 5MT D/R including weight of LSD and hard suspension and AC at 1080 kg

4WD turbo sedan with auto - mine 1095

my Brumby is registered as 975 kg

I was just quoting data off a scan of a original Subaru FSM that the dealers get....

I wouldn't trust anything the department of transport puts on there... My 83 sedan is registered at what I said it was, 993kg, because the form asked for it and that's what I know it to be. Of cause now its different because I'd stuck 4wd under it.

dont forget that some weights quoted by the manufacturer are dry weights, without oil, fuel, water ect
