Hi all , I'll be getting a power steering pump rebuilt later in the week and the fella doing it has an early Lib one I think - said no pressure switch .

Being suspicious I had to look in the 92 Lib Factory WSM to see if they use a similar/same pump as late L ie the 92L one I'm using ATM .
From the diagrams in the 92 Lib WSM it looks like exactly the same thing as I have so fingers crossed I'll get an exchange pump and everyone else may be able to scrounge up good 2nd hand Lib pumps to keep their Ls alive .
You would have to use a late L pulley if the pumps do interchange .
Its unconfirmed but I believe the late L and early Lib pumps have a "blind" acorn nut holding the pulley on the shaft where the early L pumps have a plain nut to do the job . Could make the IDing process a snap .

Obviously Ls use a different reservoir to Libs but they should interchange fingers crossed .

Later , cheers A .

'L' series pumps are fully rebuildable. I have done too many to count. The 'L' series fluid tank tents to leak a bit with age as they are only crimped along the seam. A bit of brazing & there fully sealed again.....

Yes , I looked through the WSMs and they seem straight forward enough .

I just prefer the idead of the later units because the shaft and bearing looks to be larger .

Also as point of interest I look at the early Lib rack specs and the power assisted one has a slightly faster ratio , dont remember exactly but I think somewhere in the 3.3-3.5 range vs L 3.7 .

Cheers A .
