Hey all, just joined here to find some info. I'm currently looking for another project (lost interest in my ke70 corolla). I'm looking for something that isnt common, fun to drive, and can be a good sleeper. So im trying to find some info about the leone/subaru gl. The only experience ive had is an old friend of mine had a gl wagon, it just wouldnt die, made it to 360,000km before blowing a head gasket (faulty thermostat). So my questions are:
The EA82 engine, is it any good? would the usual bored out block/aggressive cams/ upgraded fuel pump give it any decent performance, or should i just put an EJ20 in it?
Driveline: what kind of gearbox does it have? im guessing due to the size it's a single unit, not a transfer case setup. Would it be hard to convert to rear wheel drive only?
I've heard they originally came out with an rx turbo option. How much do they put out, are they worth buying or would i be better off buying a normal one and building it up?
Do they all come with the luxury options? My mates gl wagon had power steering, power windows etc.
I'm also looking for a good example of a worked leone, so links would be welcome. im an apprentice mechanic but i have a decent home workshop setup and i can do my own labour, just choosing the right car has been hard.
Thanks for your time:)
