Im gonna assume that you are talking about a air filter replacement.
Although the common thing to do at the moment is fit a pod filter on the end of the MAF, but i wouldnt bother.
You'll loose more performance from sucking in hot engine bay air that you will achieve from the slight reduction in restriction.

if you wanna do an upgrade just axe all the resonating boxes. Thats about all thatll make a difference. Even then you wont feel it. Itll just make more noise haha.

Been there done that... waste of time - I'm being honest with you. Only thing is the noises but performance wise isnt much improvement.
Cheers

yeh. i was aiming more towards a dry filter. really all i wanted to know is if the libs were the same size as a wrx or somthing. if i could use one made fo a wrx i want a bit better sound ill do other things for performance.
cheers
Michael.

I once saw a bloke remove the shitty ressy box from inside the guard and replace that with a made-up pvc piping upto the standard airbox and then feplace the air filter with a K&N (or I'd use the factory STi filter pad), this on the dyno had the same results as a APS cold air intake.

yeah aren't these APS kits just really a piece of pipe anyway?

yeh but at a cost of $550 it's a bit exxy...
And the way this guy did it, it still looked factory once you lifted the bonnet

no permits from licence dept. required and it leaves your filter pad high away from the chances of getting wet
Not saying this is the ideal way but quiet effective at a small cost.

I was seriously going to do this for my Liberty as i did the same this for the Leone. But seeing this reply and some of the other reply's on this thread i now will probably not do this. The Leone sounded awesome with the POD though, but then again it did take a shit load of the hot air from the engine, and you did noticed servier loss of engine power on those hot stinking days.
Might just take the resignator off, that'll make a bit more of responsive peformance out of the engine. Anybody tried this before?

If you mean the resonator in the guard, maybe a little lift in performance. But it will get a lot more induction noise, similar to when you had ya pod filter.

Im fine with more induction noise. The EA82 sounded killer with a POD on it, im sure the EJ22 will sound even more beefier. The ponsy chardonnay sippers around my mates place enjoyed the sound of my last subi engine roaring down the street with the POD and all, maybe they'll like to here the EJ22 as well, lol. I might do that when i have some proper time to do more work on the Liberty.
BTW nice Avatar. Be one sweet Brumby uprgade if it ever where to go into full production.

Ha ha Paul, are you taking about me?
The setup works well IMO, because your still employing the stock air box and ducting cooler air in from the front of the car.
IMO I would only use a pod with a heat shield of some design, and then you really only need them on cars with rotated turbos making big powah

geez buddy.. how did you know that? lol
For sure there's a little more induction noise but please, the sound of it that noise.. gives any revhead half a b...r
