and draws a lot of power from the engine to much i think making it over heat i was thinking would a newer compressor out of a liberty fit without to much trouble or dose someone know if how much it would cost to rebuild one thanks.

Libs use a ribbed belt pulley, I'd look at getting a new or rebuilt L series one.

I don't know how much it would cost though - only 1 of my cars has aircon and it hasn't cost me a cent in that department yet.

Libs also have diffrent connectors for the hoses. Which helps no end when you have an L series car with a Lib engine...

I've got something similar with my L-Series. In hot weather the aircon compressor is very noisy and draws so much power that even with a Turbo EA82 the car just about stops when it cuts in. I'm very suss about what gas the aircon place put in it when I had it regassed, because the guy said something about the type of gas they used expands more in hot weather and they had to up-rate the over pressure switch to stop it cutting out on a hot day. Now I'm thinking that there is just way to much pressure building up in the system and the compressor is just protesting about it and the engine having a hard time driving it all. Oh yeah, and my compressor is supposedly a high effeciency type unit that came off a Japanese import motor and is quite small compared to what you normally find under the bonnet of a L-Series.
