Hi all.

Thought I'd start this off in a new thread.

Image hosting is up and running and the video host can handle youtube and other video sites... helpful if you want to compile a list of videos for yourself and to share as a gallery or something.

Uploading still isn't working. Not sure it'll work at all now... we'll see how it goes.

Otherwise... it's probably best to watch the video on the site to see how this will help members.

http://subaru.pistonaddicts.com/index.p ... id=54&id=3
It shows how a user can cut and bast the bbCode ([img]yoursite[/img]) straight from your gallery to ausubaru without leaving the website. VERY handy for big posts with lots of images.

Current Features of the website:
-User Gallery
-Private Messaging
-Videos
-Subaru News (Needs content... will get to it soon)
-User Profiles (Including cars owned)
-20 Photos at a time uploading. (Hopefully archives and ftp uploads supported soon)

Have some template and general tiding up to do around the site after the quick build, but everything should function all right. I'll make it look prewty later during next week.

Now... what I need are some users to sign up and start posting images. :)

Number of photos users can upload at a time has been changed from 3 to 20.

Should make life A LOT easier

edit:
Also added a tutorial on creating categories. Users should place their photos in their own categories.

A couple of thoughts:
-Could you make the ausubaru iframe bigger, or scale it browser window size? 960 is pretty small.
-The resized pictures have larger file sizes than the originals - is there an easy way to reduce quality?
-would be nice to be able to have special characters in file names (such as the brackets that my phone camera puts in all file names.)

Firefox had a problem with scaling... so I had to go with set sizes. I've increased it to 1024 which is the current standard.

In the way of the file sizes... I didn't notice that... I'll check into it tonight. I'll post back when it's fixed.... good catch!

In the way of special characters. I can't change those settings for uploads. My suggestion is to download a program like VSO image resizer which is free and will resize, rename and produce basic effect VERY quickly. You just highlight and right click on all the files you want to rename and resize and click on the VSO option in the menu, right from explorer. I'll post a tutorial on it on the website later tonight. Cool little application.

Edit: I've had to turn off image resizing for now. The file sizes were too large.... When I've fixed it, I'll update.
In the mean time, I've just limited the file size to 200KB. This is the maximum FILE size per file uploaded no restrictions on resolution though.

Heh, it's amazing what you can find under a few years' worth of leaked oil and CV grease (and then take low-res poorly lit photos).

Simple - don't use Firefox. :)

:)

I have a preference towards firefox... only because its more secure than IE.

Also... IE7 has more bugs up it's bum than any other program in windows.

And that engine bay IS fingure lookin' good.

Howdy,

Around 16% of web users use Firefox as their browser so I suggest you ensure everything works cool bananas under Firefox.

Good luck

So far so good with firefox. Was actually easier to get it working under firefox than explorer. IE7 was a pain in my bum.

As I've been looking around at the usual mods to subaru's and trying to get a grasp on things, I thought it might be an idea to start a sort of 'knowledge base' for the website.

So I've started colating posts - rewriting and searching for general facts and am throwing them in a FAQ type environment on the website.

When it's got a good number of articles in it... I'll publish it. Currently I've finished a list of all the EA series engines including their specs:

- Displacement
- Stroke
- Bore
- Torque
- Horsepower
- and variations.. OHV Pushrod - SOHC etc.

Next will be the EJ series and their variations.

Basically, I want it their for easy access and not to have to sift through countless threads... I was doing it for myself and thought it might be usefull for others.

If you have any ideas on topics that should be colated and put together or would like to contribute. Let me know. Topics I've got so far (Which will include sub topics) are:
- Engines - general info and transplants
- Drivetrains - general info and transplants
- Subaru Models - info about each series and hopefully brochures and ads in PDF
- Suspension Setups
- Brakes

Another thread might be one on, parts that swap into other models for example,

Between the SERIES of the same model
Liberty gen1 S1 shocks - fit into gen1 S2 shocks (note: for example)

Between the GENERATIONS of the same model
Liberty gen2 shocks - Don't fit into Liberty gen3 shocks (note: for example)

Actually, that would take awhile haha,
you could do between wagons and sedans,
betweem l and liberty,
between my - l etc etc...

Anyone that is an idea,
