hi guys
im thinking of a set of stainless extractors. my thoughts after looking under front i got a bit concerned about heat from them on the oil filter and other parts as there doesnt seem to be heat shields with them.

your thoughts and experiances

Headers / extractors are a good idea to free up exhaust flow etc. ;)

Some extractors are equal length i.e., you'll lose the dak dak typical of most WRX's, though you can purchase unequal length headers.

What ever product you purchase, look into having it ceramic coated.
Coating is relatively inexpensive and stops heat radiating out of your headers - thus losing spool energy, raising under bonnet temps etc etc

Id say old Volkswagen engines are dak dak

Subaru's are more dub dub

You can pick up headers on ebay for next to nothing

be careful which "heat wrap" you use.

we fitted this heat wrap tape stuff once as it came highly recommended from an experienced tuner in brisbane. the shit caught on fire, and if i hadn't been standing there at the time would have done major engine damage. As it was it claimed a timing belt and some wiring...

we ripped the shit off and went back to the traditional fibre heat wrap. no problems from then on (but yes it is ugly!)
