as 1994 wagon - there is two different types of Liberty - Generation 1 or Generation 2? (Generation 2 is a newer shape than Gen 1) Which one are you talking about?

Liberty/Subaru are reliable cars if you look after them then they'll look after you. What to check out - Service books is very important and when last time timing belt has been changed? apart from that, normal overall checks would be required.

Do the liberties have the same rust issue under the doors as the L did? I'd take a peek under there, but I'd look underneath the car anyway so it wouldn't be out of my way.
Living in Canada now. Looking at all these SVXs for sale...

No normally they dont, ive seen one really badly rusted up in Queensland was a surfer's car with salt etc on the Liberty - that was on ebay.

One Gen2 Liberty sedan I saw about 2 yrs ago had rust on top under the window seal due dirt build up and not cleaning properly.

Apart from that not that I know there isnt any rust. But dont forget you're in WA so might be different than here.
