Hi my name is Glen, I live in Springwood Qld.

I am looking at retiring my 96 VS V6 Commodore wagon as it is a little hard on the wallet and maybe purchasing a Liberty or Outback, Our extreme budget is $16000 and see that there are a few 2001 Outbacks with lowish K's < 150k's. We have Three kids under 8 and wonder if they may be to small.

Please explain the my00, my01 and my02 codes.

Your advice would be appreciated.

G'day glen,
The MY code, im sure is year of manufacture, ie MY03 = built 2003, however there may be more to it. My sister has an outback with 3 kids, she reckons there is plenty of room.

An outback would be fine for room, I think the Liberty would a bit little small compared to commodore. And if you are looking for a gen3 outback (2000+) you will be looking at more then 16k, but you can defiantly get some nice low k gen2 outbacks for under 16k.

I disagree bumpty. There are gen3 wagons sub 16k. Plenty about, just have to look.
I just picked up a gen3 wagon in great nick for 10k. Average low price would be around 13k
Gen2 outbacks can be sought for 6-9k.
