i have a carby L thats running fine.
i have a mate with a ej20 lib awd d/range etc, but towed to much weight and ripped the whole tow bar assembly out. not busted ripped straight out leaving quite large holes.
now i have a chance to pick his car up for $500, in great running order a part from the holes.
i was thinking of swaping the engine but having it mate up with my exsiting driveline, but was wondering what would i need from this donour car, all parts are available. eg engine/loom/computer???
or would it be just as time consuming trying to swap all eg20 running gear in to my L with the awd box?

is it an Early Lib?? coz wont it be an EJ22 then?
either way 500 is nice and cheap for it.
id be jumping right on that andputting the EJ and AWD box into my car if i had an opportunity like that

yeah pos its a ej20 ill double check tho. how hard is it to hook it all up with the awd box? will i need custom driveshafts or can i get away with a stock items. and will i lose the speedo because of differnt box?

just use an adapter plate and use the ea driveline.
too much messing around IMHO.
deciding factors should also be
1. Do you take it offroad?
2. How hard do you drive it?
3. Are you willing to muck around with driveshafts/tailshaft etc?

i've not long had this car but i am planning on going off road. and alittle hard driving from time to time (im only early 20's). i presume ej20 with plate to stock driveline would be the most easy. but what else will i also need other than motor from this donour car. im still waitnig on my lift kit (6 weeks till now) but this shouldn't affect any engine mods/swaps?

you should be fine running the ea driveline. Just have to get the clutch beafed etc etc.
the only thing liftkit will affect is your exhaust. Wiring and whatnot should have enough slack. Maybe lift the car first then do the conversion or both at the same time.

If it was D/R AWD with 2.0 litre (EJ20) it would be 1999 Liberty onwards.
If it was 2.2 litre (EJ22) would be 1989 to 1998 Liberty (RX Version would be 2.5 litre (EJ25).
Cheers

That'd probaly be worth fixing if its not a write off, could make some $$$ then buy a half cut anyway...

its not a write off. he was towing for his boss so his boss told him to get qoutes to repair it, but the qoute was almost what the cars worth to fix it.
so his boss is going to give him what he paid for the car and let him keep his original.
going by your info alpineraven i dare say it would be 2.2 but i'll see him tonight and ask.
