Modded 84 coupe, USA

I haven't posted on this site as Zap yet, so here's my reintroduction. I was Bob_the _Brat on the old site, I go by Zap on the USMB.

I've been wheeling my Toyota mostly for the last couple of years, but trying to keep a lifted Subaru in the fold for lesser offroad play and show and tell.
I just sold my Brat to pay for the motor and trans that will most likely go into my next project.
Image
I'll miss that Brat, but hopefully the guy who bought it back will sell it back to me when he tires of it. I picked a guy who will love and care for it.

Anyways, the next prject looks like this:

Here's the before and after.

Although I've been a steady BYB/USA Ozified.com customer, owning a total of 9 cars that I installed their kits on, I switched up this time. (I've installed a total of 14 BYB/Ozified kits) The kit I used is a custom 3/4 made by SJRlift.com The company is local to me, it was only an hour's drive to pick it up. Patrick, the man who sells the BYB?Ozified kits Stateside is currently not making them.
Pretty cool kit, with one major improvement, this kit drops the rear diff. Which means no having to bend the fold on the gas tank as well as keeping the mustache bar good and tucked.
Image

The coupe will be getting a d/r trans from Australia, as well as a bull bar and Superlite wheels. Please tell me no one has the charcoal black ones with the polished lip. :)
I own and possess, but am still not sure if I'll use, a 2005 USDM WRX 2.0 turbo motor and harness and all the goodies to make it run. I may instead go the cheaper route and put a 2.2t in it from a gen one legacy.
You can also see the tires I'll be using. BFGoodrich MTs, 215/75/15. They sit in the garage all shiny and new, waiting on that slow boat from AU.

Welcome back. It has been a while. You'll have to keep us updated on your coupe. It is looking the goods so far.

It is interesting to see the kit you are using does the same thing that we do with the rear diff these days. We haven't used blocks on the diff for about 2 years or so.

I hadn't heard from Patrick for a while and had a feeling he may have had enough of making the kits. I haven't done any hands on with kits for a long time.

Are you getting the bullbar, wheels and gearbox form over here? Gonna be kind of expensive to ship all that your way.

Over here they are quite pricey.

Welcome back Zap although I was not a member when the other site was up, so it's a first G'Day from me ;) It good to see that we Aussies are not the only crazy Subaru owners to mod their cars :)

I looked at your site http://www.hatchpatrol.com and love it !! I have always keep that pic of the 4 hatchies and Brat on the ridge as a favorite of mine

Hope you keep us updated with all the progress on your coupe ;)

Thanks Brett. (That is you right?) This little car only has 121k miles on it, virtually no rust. It's a killer candidate for this swap. I've been wanting to lift a coupe the whole time I've been lifting/offroading Soobs.

The wheels are coming here thru a USA distributer, so shipping is cheaper, but the wheels are still spendy. The trans and bullbar I'll have to pay the shippign on. Still waiting to hear just how much, got a rough idea? The price I'm paying for them is low, so I'm prepared to eat a big shipping bill. But in the end, the car I'll have will be a one of a kind in the USA, (maybe the world) and that's what I'm after. I guess sometimes you gotta pay to play.

BYB and company pretty much got me into lifting Subarus in the first place. I wheeled my first one in about 1984, a little 78-79 wagon.

The Hatch Patrol was a pretty fun little club but most of us have switched ot Toyotas for wheeling. There's several Off Road Vehicle (ORV) Parks within a couple hours drive from here. They tend to have trails a little too rough for the Soobs to take and not take body damage or worse. The last couple of Soobs I lifted were too pretty to beat up, they only get light wheeling now.

I've got hours of video footage from the days when we did it a lot.

I will indeed keep you guys up to date on the coupe.

My wheels made it here from your part of the world. Is there a gallery I can use to host a pic of them on the coupe? Or can I email a pic to someone to host it for me? I'm keeping it on the down low on the US Boards until it's up and running. Very sexy car these days.

Never mind, I found one.

What do you think? Superlites, as far as I know, the only ones like them on the planet.
Motor and trans go in at the beginning of next week. Should be up and runnign a week or so after that. My dual range is not here, so I picked up a 4.111 trans and rear to work for now.

BLOODY NICE!!

If you ever need to host any pics we have a gallery here where you can put them up. http://www.ausubaru.com/coppermine/

Keep us up to date with it. The way you are going it is going to end up an awesome vehicle.
