Installed a front mount only style Bosch finger cutter thermo fan made in Chermany from a wrecker.
No idea what it is out of but got it from a loose AC condensor that had neat little threaded clips in the fins x 3 securing fan to it. It did not come with neat frame work for universal fitment- like the Panasonci units I spied on an awesome EJ20G conversion in a Brumby.....
Was the only fan of a slimline variety I could find. Nearly had it all dummied up as a pump side of the radiator until I felt the air holes of the fans motor were now facing forward and could go phut with water entry etc, so mounted it to the front with even greater fitment ease.

The finger guard was held in place by three screw studs with M6 at the top end of each stud. I drilled out & through the stud mounts holes, fitted up with odd M6 bolts and nuts.

In the radiator catch support panel a factory hole was very useful, so too a factory captivated nut for the top bracket, then found another captive nut doin nought until today, for the third and final securing ponit.

It is fixed to body quite soundly and will not need to be disconnected and removed anytime the radiator has to come out.Gonna keep the clutch fan on the pump for the time being. Need to bridge a trigger off the other fan for new fan relay

Oh, and there is my discreet (in position only ) air horn compressor , needed a little cut out from the grille, but is out of the wway of the rest of the crap under the bonnet

Installed a pair of Hella Supertones - they are very LOUD!!

Highly recommended for country drivers

Are the super tones a nice manly sound like a truck?
Or just like a normal car horn nice and girly/ tinny.

Sounds like what I need :P What sort of coin would I be looking at for a set of these? Ruby Scoo's horns are pretty dead after being under some muddy water Good time to replace/upgrade I think!

One thing I've got a plan for is my AC. Dad and I spent about an hour poking around the wrecks to piece together what I need to get the EJ pump and EA system to marry together. Then it's a case of shelling out for the gassing of the system Apparently the cost of this has gone through the roof!

There is some debate that now that they are made in India (as opposed to Germany) the quality is off, but I cannot see it.

My wife described them as 'obscene' - all I heard was 'blah blah awesome'

I had a mobile regas from a guy Steve (Rising Sun) uses for the RS - similar vintage, was $120 incl a 3 month warranty which I thought was pretty good?

That sounds good. I've heard that since the carbon tax the cost of the gas (which I believe LPG can be used) has gone through the roof.

I'll get the system cleaned up and closed then some quotes before I settle on someone to do the work...

Louder than an air horn

Just needs a relay - about a 3 beer job

Mine are louder than what is permitted on road - yet effective for dudes concentrating on their coffee, mobile phone conversation, earphones or big padded headphones, her shapely backside on a pushbike seat etc.

I bought a pair of them delivered cost me $34. The pacjkaging claimed it came with relay and wire ? it didn;t have it in there, the plstic hose was cheap nasty pvc clear , an upgrade to Goodyear pink general purpose hose and some 8mm barbed joiners or T from sca was all that was needed for a proper blast

Are you talking about electric air horns Jonno? The units that Sven has linked to are your electric horn replacement/upgrade - I don't think a copper could book you for these as they're not air horns which are not allowed by RWC - at least in Vic, but there are loads of them out there!

I was toying with the idea of those air horns that sound like a train just for shits and giggles But they're costly. These seem like the way to go.

Hey guys,
I worked for an old school mechanic in a workshop & he told me that big old Mercs & the like had these super loud dual tone Hella horns. One day on a trip to a wrecker to get parts for a job I got some to put on my ute I owned at the time. They came off an old 560 merc & they were loud!:mad: Might give you guys an idea of where else you might find these. At the time the wrecker gave em to me, but I was in the trade then.

Arr no, missed the electric bit

that extra fan at the front whirrs away but does not keep the engine any cooler - must be the thermostat keeping things as warm as before.
Learnt my lesson before playing with subies and adding relays to switch accessories and used both wires of the AC fan to switch the new relays 85,86 terminals with no independent earth wire to 85 causing mishap

My mate with the troop carrier would give both his nuts for a horn that sound like a truck or train.
For a lifted troop carrier the current horn sounds like a Prius.

You can buy kits online, I think there's a company dedicated to selling them. Rather illegal on a road car though.

No matter where they go just as long as my mate can push a button and get that awesome train horn sound going - maybe the workshop doorbell

There's this item on fleabay.

For more options, search for "train horn/s" - there's a couple of actual train horns there at the moment. Still keen for a set but really need to find a place to mount them
