Welcome, looks like a really nice unit, the only concern is the two black things on the roo bar, probably your tow points but they look pretty lethal and probably highly illegal, they would be over here.
If anyone walking past the front of your car rips a chunk of leg off you could be up for some big medical bills, worse if you hit someone, maybe you could make a rubber block to slip over them.

That's one very clean looking L. Well done. Tinting should help that interior stay nice tooFALCONCONVERTTOSUBARU wrote:

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

You might have I traverse ippy motorway daily . i spoke to a copper about them he reckoned because they are tow points they are legal. Yet if I fitted rocket launches used for fishing rods that would be illegal despite the fact my tow points could go through someone like butter it makes no sense but who knows. I do want to get some kind of rubber thing rigged up for them.

Even a couple of tennis balls with a slot cut in them would do the trick, maybe some pink ones

I think if you showed him he might be a little different about it, as the law states that you are not to have anything protruding passed your bumper.FALCONCONVERTTOSUBARU wrote:You might have I traverse ippy motorway daily . i spoke to a copper about them he reckoned because they are tow points they are legal. As for those hooks being placed where they are if you get snatched out of a nasty situation the guy doing it will more than likely end up with your roo bar embedded into the back of his vehicle, attach them to the chassis rails where they should be. Like Paul said, the cop has no idea so just be careful.

Welcome
I've owned two Brumbies and can't complain about the off-road capabilities so far, but if you're after a passenger vehicle then I'd go with a Forester. Have taken a 2004 model off-road a few times, and through the wet and mud and she drove like a dream (and it was an auto!)... but would choose a manual any day. You should be able to pick up a first gen model Foz within your price range (depending on where you look etc).
... BUT in terms of what you're torn between I'd probably go the L-series. They have the potential to be quite grunty and with a lift kit will go almost anywhere.
Hope you find something!

. I have a question regarding L series fuel consumption. I am using about 12 litres per 100 around town on 98 octane petrol my EA82 is a caburator with a custom 2 inch exhaust and the car is 3 speed auto and I drive it fairly gently and it has power steering and the aircon has no gas.
My question is that a reasonable fuel consumption for one or should I find radical fuel consumption improvements getting the carby tuned? Car has had fresh oil change but haven't done fuel filter, air filter, plugs, or leads.

I was getting about that with the 3at in my old wagon. It could either improve or get worse with a tune depending on how the engine is running. Even when I did my weber conversion and tuned it myself with a wideband O2 I was still getting double digits per 100km. Wasn't until I swapped to the 4spd man that it improved. The savings in fuel paid for the gearbox in no time.
Maybe pull your plugs and have a look. They can tell you a fair bit about how the engine is running.
Regards
Doug
