After that amount of time the oil is filthy black and quite thin (but I change the oil while it's hot so that could be why) Last change I tried some of that oil flush stuff (on the same shelf as octane booster so wasn't expecting much

Perfect. This would only be done if the oil was very black to begin withNachaLuva wrote:Thanks, I might try that next time with the extra oil change.
So let me see if I've got it right:
1) drain the oil & filter then refill with cheapo oil + oil flush, reuse old filter
2) idle as required
3) drain oil & filter then refill with cheapo oil, reuse old filter
4) idle again (or run for fews kms?)
5) drain oil then refill with good oil & replace filter with new
If your oil is already black, then adding cleaner to it won't do as good as job as new cheap oil.. when I say cheap.. I mean like oil you'd buy on special at TargetSilverbullet wrote:I put the flush in with the old oil and idled for 15 minutes, otherwise you'd be buying 3 lots of oil!
