speaking of being reminded, once ran a Holley 465 that had an open to the atmosphere float chamber vent which is how I assume a bit of glass or silica got into the float bowl and drift towards the main jet when I needed the power and bog me down, back off and the fuel flow dropped back and so did the little sucker. Another bad thing I did with a Holley was to fit the brass plate anti splash device on the wrong side of the bowl gasket. It was wedge shaped and well, fell off its pins & wedged itself under the float holding it shut going up slight inclines. Once fuel was used up, chamber was empty, no go. Stopped on a busy road outside Ford dealer where I had recently bought pump. I tested pump incorrectly in a hurry with traffic up my rr's all the time, blamed pump, politely tried to get it replaced under warranty. One legged spare parts manager, knew I was a long time customer and in the trade at the time denied replacement and not want to help me.
For his amusement, I never went back to that dealership for anything.

Cant remember the part no, but its a repco, one way, plastic one. Last time I got one from KMart.someguy wrote:Thanks for the tips.
Carb is fine.
Will check out the fuel filter/lines one night this week when its less wet :P
Does anyone know what model/part number the fuel filter is incase I need to pick one up during the week?
Speaking about carb jets, it is possible that one of your jets is blocked up of course, which would mean a carb rebuild.
Also, is your a manual gear box?

great to see an easy fix, people always seem to shout out - it's your fuel filter(s), this time they were correct. Some motorists get these symptoms, book car in for a service and come out with a few hundred dollar service and tune - all for just a blocked fuel filter. Now, did you buy a spare, or at least right part number on underside of bonnet with a marker or vegemite
AND thanks for following up with solution.

This is exactly what happened to me a while ago, except the service was closer to the thousand mark, I was dumbfounded that they gave it back to me saying problem solved and I barely made it up the hill on the way home. Pulled the filters and found I couldn't blow through them, $20 later, problem solved. Glad it was your filters, I'll look for a wagon screaming down the freeway now, whilst I'm chugging along not overtaking crap.

True, but always start with the basics. Once these are covered off, start looking for odd-ball reasonssteptoe wrote:great to see an easy fix, people always seem to shout out - it's your fuel filter(s), this time they were correct.
To do so otherwise simply angers the car god - and he can be vengeful fcuker.
And I think everyone around here has been owned by him at some point
