Just had a quick look at some on-line catalogues but couldn't find what models had the 23 spline front shaft. I'm pretty sure I have some at home.

Your Lib shafts are probably 30 spline.

I had no luck, ringing up either, liberty's seem to be 30 or 15 splines. PM Sent Brumbyrunner.

From the axle shafts I looked into , L/XT6'early lib the spline counts were from memory 22/23/25/30 .

As for length shortest to longest MY/L/XT6/Early Lib . Somewhere on this board I posted the measured lengths of them and one of the most desirable ones is the unobtanium XT6 ones .
My main interest is the larger 25 spline axles but I do happen to know that Lib DOJ's are about (from memory) 5mm longer than L 25 spline ones so that maybe something to look at with 23 spline Lib shafts .

At one stage I contemplated getting front control arms extended and running Lib axle shafts to correct a camber issue but the difference in length between RX L and Lib is a fair bit . Front drive always adds issues when trying to correct camber .

Really adjustable strut tops with urethane is the easiest way out , you may not get the camber exactly where you want it but you do get a second chance by increasing positive caster - it's this that gives you the important dynamic camber change .

That is interesting because every CV place i have talked to said liberty's only have 22 or 30. No mention of 23. So who has some XT6 or even early Liberty shafts that they want to sell me? Or know where i can get some from?

I just found this post from yourself A, i will keep looking. I keep you posted.

"I measured up L RX and 1st gen Lib FWD front shafts (same 25 splines both ends of both shafts) and from memory they are 490 and 525mm - I posted the lengths so do a search , the XT6 front shafts are a unique in between length and I posted that as well . "

Gen 1 Liberty only has 22,23 or 25 spline front axles according to the service manual. Bizzarely they don't list the number of splines for rear axles.

After heaps of searching i found this, posted by discopotato03.

1) L Turbo axle is ~ 490mm
2) XT6 front axle is ~ 505mm
3) 1st Gen Lib axle is ~ 525mm

As I posted in another thred FrWD Lib DOJ bells are ~ 5mm longer than RX L ones so changing them over gets 5mm .

A .

Late edit , we think turning the cage and iner race aroud is possibly good for another 5mm so maybe an easy 10 with Lib DOJ's ?

Also when i find my shaft i will put a post up in the tech manaul with all the lengths and spline counts i know of.

Not bad off the top of my head. Adrian reckons the Lib is 35mm longer.

Every rear axle spline I have found has been 22 spline.

PM received and I won't be home for some weeks.
I've never heard of 15 spline on anything.

Sorry that was a typo, on my behalf about the 15 spline.

I just ironic discovered the fact that the rear's are 22 because they go straight onto a Gen 2 Liberty Shaft. Which opens up the possiblity of having a 23 spline to 22 spline, which opens up more shafts.. And then i thought about this for a sec and had a look at Driveline Services Catalogue... And Yes i have a possible solution that i can buy off the self almost!!! :-)

These DOJ and CVs

LEONE
Make Model Ext X Int Splines Outer Ext X Int Splines Inner
2WD L.H. 73-79 30 X 22 23 X 22

On a
22 Spline Gen 2 Liberty shaft

All of which should hopefully not be to long... Fingers crossed :-)

And i just had another idea that i have a MY 2 wheel drive outer that could be 22 spline to although not listed on the Driveline catalogue. Bonus is i have on in the back shed i think that will be good enough to try it with anyway.

A 22 spline front L series shaft? Never seen one of them.
No reason why it won't work though.

Did you ask George about using a 22 spline Liberty rear shaft?
I can't remember if these are the same length as the fronts or not.

The reason why XT6's used longer front axles is because they also have an upright/CV/hub similar to what an early Liberty does . Lib style CV's are shorter so the axles have to be longer to make up the difference .

Turbo XT4's use the same gear as an RX L Series .

The down side of using those eccentric camber adjusters on the cross member is that you introduce bump steer because the inner pivots move in relation to the steering racks inner joints . If you lengthen the control arms this doesn't happen .

Sounds like it should work.....but bear in mind that the 22 spline stuff is a fair bit smaller than the 23 or 30 spline stuff (which are the same size) that are normally used on the front.
