coming to Australia

Post by azbret » Mon Jun 02, 2008 10:33 pm

HI My wife and I are coming to australia in june & july. We are coming to the golden triangle area. I build gold fossicking equipment here in the USA. It would be great to meet up with some Subaru people as I am a USMB member here in the states and have an 2006 STI, 97 Legacy Outback & an 84 Brat with 2.2 SPFI & 3" lift. Would love to meet up with people and talk about or help work on subies...... Let me know where you are and I'll start a map with locations.

You are welcome for a brew when you hit Canberra if you are coming this way(about 3 hours SW of Sydney) - will try and make sure the Mini is together as well for a spin in the Brindabellas.

PM if you are coming this way

Dont listen to the WA guys - they think they are special because they live on the West coast!!:p;)

Good fun in WA and the fossicking is not too bad either...

Depending on your time available, I would suggest driving Sydney > Adelaide > Melbourne > Goldfields. This would cover a good part of the southern country, plus you get to see a fair part of South Australia, the best part of Victoria (western coastal drive), Melbourne, and of course the Bendigo / Ballarat region. I would recommend against driving from Sydney direct to Melbourne via the Hume (hwy 31), it's about 10 hours of solid boredom. Driving down through Merimbula region is much better, but will take 2 or more days instead of 1. Keep us posted on your plans, we have a pretty good mix of knowledge on this site for places to see...

I might be able to show you some sights in the SE Melbourne region depending on timing, or at least give you some ideas.

Things to bring: Authentic Mexican food! We don't even get Taco Bell here....or Moon Pies...Charleston Chews...Saltwater Taffy...at least our McDonald's are better than yours ;-)

I'm a fantastic mexican food cook. should get together for a feast of some sort. Maybe a subbie gathering and I'll cook up a storm. We'll be in the melbourne to bendigo area for about 6 weeks would love to hook up with any subbie people around those parts. Really want to do gold fossicking if any one knows about it... let me know... THX Bret
