Petrol prices in Sydney?

Post by xii » Mon May 19, 2008 11:25 am

Hey guys, Just out of curiousity.. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that petrol prices havent been following their regular price cycle in the past week. As of yesterday, all servos around my area (Ryde) were still at their low $1.36/L since last tuesday. I just find it odd that prices are kept down while US is facing record high prices at the bowsers.

Cheers

That's cos the ACCC are looking into them... not that they really have any authority over the oil companies.

Over here its 143.9 to 147.9 in bendigo. An hour away at lancefield its 155.9, a fifteen minute drive further its 141.9. In melbourne on saturday the lowest price seen was 139.9 and the highest was 149.9 - all within a 5 minute drive of eachother...

Crazy how the prices change as you get out to the country areas. No discount docket prices quoted, just regular prices.

Cheers

"Record high prices" pfff.

I saw that in the paper the other day. It works out to 97c/L australian. And they're protesting! Riding horses! Writing songs! sheesh.

They're a bit sheltered over there, I think. Even in Canada it's heading up towards $1.40/L and I hear in NZ it's $1.80+!

Keep in mind, up untill Hurricane Katrina, the gas prices here were under or about 2 US dollars a gallon. Now, they are at 4.00 a gallon and rising quickly. That's a pretty big hit to the pocket in such a short amount of time.

OPAL = LOL! (unsniffable fuel) HA - just had a kid in Darwin die from the stuff, so much for the federal govt spending $30M on it.

pretty much it degrades the rubber bits in your fuel line, not the 'fuel line' itself just values, Orings etc. i just had to put a carb kit in because of it.!!!!! also had good mechanic friends repairing or replacing parts on various(new through to used) vehicles. the most common thing between the vehicles, was the "fuel" they used.

willing to be corrected but, NT all communities and townships have it in place instead of regular unleaded. just remember to fuel up in the major centres on premium as you go through. more than likely you will not have a problem for the time your here, but you may really like your ride too.

My wife is from Sudbury, and her parents say the prices are up around that level at the moment.

metro adelaide: PULP $1.67/lt...tipped to be $1.70 by week's end.

Just back from Germany, PULP around $2.80/lt. Diesel about $3/lt - makes 120 lt an expensive fill for the hire campervan!

prices did not go up from $1.57/L after cheap wednesdays here at epping again... Seems like servos here sell off their last stock "cheap" before another major hike. Im expecting $1.75/L this week due to the $139/barrel hike.

i was in NSW last week and in Sydney and The Central Coast i kept seeing standard unleaded from around 151c/pl up to around 163c/pl

E10 being like 2 cents cheaper compared to unleaded at the same servo (not that id ever use it)
2000 being the same as unleaded i got told (same prices to)

you guys have some weird servos over there, lots of little independent ones whereas we see mostly Big brands here in WA (Shell, BP, Caltex, Peak, Gull, and a few independent ones)
