BEST EJ driveline - researching a project.
looking at dropping a complete ej turbo driveline into one of these

I have found the car already ( in christchurch!) but still unsure of the drivline options. I want:
4:11 front and rear ( though with the reduction in the centre diff the rear will be different)
5sp manual
non viscous LSD for the rear ( think MY02 WRX is what I'm after)
and a 5stud swap.
which one should I be looking at. car is going to be std height or 1" lower.
those that remember me know I had a GREEN RX with a vortex bonnet on it. this will be on this car also.
ideas?

Well I don't know much about EJ converting Tripod images.... maybe you should try http://imageshack.us? :P
OK, going to do some guess work here. I'm guessing this is an L series of some description. I trust you've read the EJ conversion thread on these boards, so I won't go into detail on that. But I'll have a say.
OK, first things first, whats the go with the centre reduction in the gearbox? Only AWD gearbox I know of with this setup is the early Aus-delivered RS Libertys, these had a 3.9 front and 3.54 rear. AFAIK all 4.11 'boxes use a 4.11 diff, well at least my JDM 5 speed does. And so does every other EJ gearbox I've come into contact with (apart from the aforementioned).
Why don't you want a viscous rear? Planning on a lot of load on the diff? Well whatever the reason you can easily build a 4.11 clutch pack LSD using a clutch pack centre and a 4.11 diff.
The 5 stud swap. I like it when people talk about complicated things in simple terms.
I'm guessing you mean the vortex bonnet scoop on the L series bonnet. If you're planning on using a bigger air/air topmount IC you'll probably find it won't flow enough air.
Would be good to see a pic.

Have a look at Yahoo Motorsport in Adealaide they have a 1987 SUBARU LEONIE 4WD turbo 5spd 113k's $3500uncomplied.
http://home.iprimus.com.au/jverban/
while your there have a look at the 1989 Subaru REX 550cc supercharged 95k's $2500uncomplied. (K-cars section).
I only offer this in case your in Aust as it might work out cheaper than importing from NZ.

looking that one up now.

I was under the impression that the 4:11 and 4:44 items had a reduction based centre. hence my statement.

prefer something that locks quickly. my last car spent a lot of time pulling out 4wds and it didn't have a LSD under it.
me too- though I know what is involved. may use XT6 stuff to do it - local liberty is what I have read works with modification.

thats what I mean. I had one built in late 99 for my old car ( the one I see around Taigum now in white!- I want the bonnet if you still have it.)
and it cooled things down a fair bit. not going ovr the top with it just a std driveline.
I'll see if I can dig up a pic of my old car.Would be good to see a pic.
