To Prozone or not to Prozone?

Post by Reg Brumbys » Mon Sep 24, 2007 9:37 am

I was having a yarn to a Mechanic and he was saying that the 90 Brumby I have was built with leaded fuel in mind and not unleaded - he said that I should look at getting a "Prozone" fitted to the fuel line to get the best performance out of it.

It's meant to be a fuel conditioner -

". The fuel passes over three to seven complex alloy amalgam cores.
2. Then it passes over two or more powerful earth, sintered ceramic magnetic cores which alters the free electron structure of the fuel, polarizing the fuel hydrocarbons prior to combustion "

Most of the stuff I heard about these things has been that they aren't worth a squirt but I was wondering if anyone has actually tried one and the results of it?

He's got an eye on your wallet and he's not letting go.

No need for any of that, any engine with alloy heads already has hardened valve seats suitable for unleaded fuel, the subaru's have been running on unleaded in japan from the mid 60's so I'm told.

In a word or two , don't be fooled into these things, none of them are really worth it and as BVCP said the Subi engines have been running un-leaded fuel from the late sixtys.

The EA81 was designed for higher octane fuel than regular unleaded 91, but the leaded/unleaded difference isn't relevant. Most engines since the early 70s have hardened valve seats (the US big three introduced them in 1971-73). You'll get better performance out of 95 octane fuel with timing set accordingly.

The prozone model reminds me of Brocky's energy polarisor, and we all know how successful that was

One performance mod recommended for any EA81 - Weber carby, runs more advance and get more power and economy can improve if driven sensibly. Also yours would have electronic dizzy but others on the board have gone with a high output coil like the MSD Blaster. Save ya money for some mods that DO work.

Yeah!, I agree with Subanator too.
Go and buy a Hiclone instead, that will put a Cyclone under your bonnet and give you more power and more mileage ie 15-20% fuel savings.

P.S.
Please forward all monies for Consultancy Fee to............ ;) ;) :-D

what about the piston return springs, and cross drilled brake lines.

amazing upgrades you can do.

why not install a muffler bearing while you are at it.

and dont forget to fill the fuel tank with unobtainium. - works a treat.
