i reckon the best thing about the older generation is the cheap-as-chips parts. the newer the cars get the more they cost in spares. and if you do some serious offroading stuff is bound to break.
i reckon the Liberty's do look better than a boxy L- especially lifted or lowered - but i still love my L and will be sticking with it for some time yet. as for power- i have enough trouble trying to keep out of speed camera's way with my slow car - id be worse with an ej motor lol

Not much can be done about departure angle on the Lib as it has a body panel basically where you would want to improve things. But a well set up either model is a good thing. I personally love driving my RX (L series) better than driving the Liberty but too much of a good thing.....

Postie I am having a few heating probs could be head gasket haven't checked it yet

I had the problem before but not as bad gets hot when in boost under load :(
