3 Subarus too many? Obviously not!

Post by tim_81coupe » Sun Nov 13, 2005 8:35 pm

Hi all,
I'm about to buy my third Subaru. I figure with the current state of my coupe and the unreliability of my wagon I can justify an addition to the family. Now honestly, this one is gonna remain fairly stock, well at least until one of the others carks it. I'm going to use it as a runaround, cheap and reliable transport.

I'm not going to tell you all what it is just yet, I'm going to let you guess. The only clues I'm going to give are:
It's automatic
It's blue
It's 2WD
It's a car that I swore I would never buy.

I'm picking it up next weekend.

Awesome I think I've just been promoted to an official enthusiast

okay my guess is a gen 1 liberty, only because you said reliable so it has to be an ej series engine, also an ej series would be the only one powerful enough to put up with an auto :D
1999 Impreza RX

LOL :D

Some of those are close. I'll drop a few more hints, oh and I want y'all to guess the year too

It's not an EJ (more reliable than that)
Unfortunately it's not a Tex (maybe next time)

That alone should single it down quite a bit.

Did I make it that obvious :D

Give Muddy a trophy! It's a blue automatic 1980 MY Leone sedan, complete with ROUND headlights (I said I'd never buy a roundy roundy one) and it is MINT. To give you an idea of just how good the interior is, the air vents look the same as the slats over the in dash speaker, NO cracking at all.
Sits on 13" steelies, has rear louvres, original tape deck and pieces of interior trim that I never knew existed. One owner since new, my sister's boyfriend's grandma, it's been garaged it's entire life. And the best feature of all is it's EA81 engine - that's right I'm back to pushrod power!

Only immediate planned mod is the replacement of the tape deck with a CD/MP3 player. Next on the list might be a conversion to manual, depends on how good the auto is. That's pretty much it for the next two years.

And yes, in my hands it will inevitably have major mods performed on it in a few years time, maybe a lift kit, more likely an EJ20G but for now its gonna be my "stocky".
