How do I remove WAIC off RS Lib ?

Post by steptoe » Mon Jun 15, 2015 7:25 pm

I have a small window of time to remove a WAIC off a RS Liberty and some tips on how and where would be appreciated.
It won't be in the dark, and i won't be wearing a ski mask but will likely be in a similar fashion hurry.

Main components yeah are the easy to get at doodad that has the rad cap on it, then ...where is the pump, tell me it is in the engine bay and not where the L air suspension compressor hides ...please !

Then the cooler bit is obviously up front between rad support panel and grille?

10mm spanners and sockets ? Or is there some PITA step in the process ??
Assuming the water hoses are just that and slice/slice is the best for them

Is that the basics ??

thanks in advance :)

Not a problem :)

From the looks of the lines for the pump that would definitely be a good guess.

A nice set of images of under the RS bonnet from a member with an RS would help :)

I do know on RS liberty there is a write up on removing the WAIC but you need to be a member to view it. :(

I think either pull the guard off or remove wheel and inner guard to reach pump

might have to pay a visit to RS Lib guys then, sort of need the details on how to get at and remove the pump.

Yep, it is under the battery, towards the front more so from the looks of things....but whether it is remove wheel and inner liner, or remove head light and indicator...

had another look at it in cramped conditions and wondering if it is done laying on ones back and work from under. Coolant reservoir is in there too ! I need to preseve the rest of the car as it is destined to the UK for a bit of a swapsies so won't be robbing plugs off looms etc. Likely to have a towie breathing down ma neck close to finish time.

Looks like it is just one M8 12mm head bolt securing the WAIC radiator in place, seen the dropping resistor and relays on drivers front strut tower .....
