hi every one. I finally got the money to lift my Lseries.
but i need to know what one to go with.with out any
Modifications like Extending brake lines. so out of
the 2 3 and 4 inch lift kits. what one can i have. With no modifying anything.
any advice on this would be much Appreciated.
the resone i wana lift it so bad is so it looks the part
and mates stop picking on the lack of ground clearance.
lol. and i wana fit 14 or 15inch wheels.

Probably brake hoses, front and rear. Because the flexible hose goes from a solid mounting on the body to a solid mounting on a moving part (trailing arm or front shock) if you move the body away from the moving part by 2 inches you need a 2 inch longer brake hose, not much you can do to get around it. It's easy enough to get some made up, a good opportunity to get braided lines like I did.
Probably your gear shifter will need fiddling as well, since the gear box will be 2 inches further away from the body.

Nah, 2" lift you don't need to change brake lines, I didn't with 3".
Even still, don't be afraid of changing lines if you need to - simple to do, inexpensive, and you get to replace your crusty old ones from the 1980s.
Also, the shifter works fine with no mods at all, so long as the bushes are in good nick.
Expect to get the exhaust modded very slightly to keep it nicely tucked up to the body.

Didn't need to change shifter, although the gears were harder to select. Replacing the worn bushes fixed this.
Had to get the exhaust modded slightly as it hung too low after.
Mechanic well, maybe if you find one that charges by the hour (like $70 to $100 per hour). Probably take someone good 5 or 7 hours start to finish.

To be honest L series are excellent value especially for modding to turn them into an awesome car, but this is only really true if you can do the work yourself. Most L series are worth less than 1 grand now, so even investing in brand new parts usually adds up to more than the car is worth without adding the same value, this is without paying for someone else's time. Get yourself some basic tools (good set of spanners, good set of sockets) and have a go. Installing a lift kit is pretty straight forward, not sure if the Cr0ssBread kit comes with instructions. Best bet is to also invest in beer and pizza to entice someone who has done it all before to come and give you a hand and some guidance.
Otherwise you could look into swapping into an already modded car, heaps of L series have had a lift kit already installed. Even then, I'd still recommend if you plan on maintaining an L series (especially an offroading one) to expect to have to learn how to repair it often.
btw strut spacers are basically just part of the lift kit. You can put just them in without the rest of the lift kit, but it will put your CV's at wild angles causing them to fair quickly and also upset your camber.

thanks guyz. im prity good when it comes to doing my own work
and i like to give things ago. iv got a shit load of good tools laying around
and when i do a new job i tend to buy the tools i need for that job.
im sure i have all the tools needed to do the job just havnt got a clue were to start lol.
thats why i wish thay had a shock and spring lift.
as iv done alot of cars puting in new shocks and springs.
keeping in mind tho its all ways been to lower the car
not raise the car lol. i am prity keen on the lift kit but
just finding one that i dont have to get posted from QL.
all so my mate thinks i cant do it with out a car hoist.
iv got 4 stands and a trolly jack thats it.
my mates are all tryin to talk me into buying a truck like
a hilux or a GQ. but i just love my subie to much
and it goes every were there trucks go.
and thats with road tires and no ground clearance.

Big trucks more capable sure but everything is more expensive- tyres, fuel, suspesion upgrades...
