what is the green finish on screws, brackets etc?

As the title, does anyone know what the factory dark green finish is found on so many brackets and screws on MY and L Series at least ?
And if so, how to get same ?

Its a form of passivation using chromates, The older stuff like MY and Ls were probably using hexavalent chromium (because of nasties which now not used around the world) Trivalent chromium is now widely used. The colour of the passivate can be chosen.
I have found it is really difficult to find places equipped to do passivation willing to do small batches of passivation for all the original hardware on my cars n parts so I opt for a more easily attainable zinc plating. This can be done in a tank or barrel process.

They even put it on freshly made 747-800's....
Note lack of windows as its a designated cargo only bird.

FF Jay, thought some of your green bits looked fresh, brand new, so not ?

Bit like the old copper chrome arsenate pine stuff - just as nasty :(

No find Mr Fuji, I took it at Payne field (Boeing factory) In Seattle in July this year! Wow what a place!! Biggest single span shed in the world!!

Ah yes Steptoe, the ol' copper arsenic H4, H5 is still around. I am told its what makes up my new backyard retaining wall. So I dont grow fruit n veggies around it!

A few houses over on Scotland Island made up of the nasty stuff ! Though, not seen any kids turning green from their exposure to it in the 70's, 80's and 90's ...
