Diesel Forester actual towed caravan survey?

Post by Diesel_powd » Sat Apr 12, 2014 7:14 pm

Am relatively happy owner of 2013 diesel powered forester, coming up to 20,000km. Currently I tow a camper van around 1000kg and boat around 800-900kg.

I am considering upgrading/upsizing the camper to a small pop-top caravan sometime in the next year or so, but am cautious about believing too readily the tow limit of 1800kg.

Just wondering what other diesel Forester owners actually do tow (weight and/or model of caravan) and what their experiences might be. This would give a useful idea of what the actual practical weight limit is and under what styles, distances of towing etc.

Sorry, unable to help right now but will be able to let you know soon enough. My daughter is getting a 2011 model and I'm interested to know how it will tow a heavy trailer.
