Has anyone any knowledge , or a thread they can show me , re the ease or otherwise of replacing a standard MY auto with an EJ auto box - almost certainly with a single cam 20ej engine attached ? I'm looking at getting a donor unit of a damaged 2000yr forester auto with a ej20 in it.
I know the single cam ej20 engine will (generally) fit between the chasis rails but what about the auto box ?
I have a adaptor support for fitting an ej manual box into a brumby/my, but I'm thinking of just keeping the silver wagon as an auto rather than doing a manual conversion.
thanks,
ej auto (+ 20ej) into auto MY wagon ?

I tried putting an EJ auto in a FWD auto MY sedan and it wasnt even close to fitting. Tunnel mods would be needed.
Current rides: 2016 Mitsubishi Triton GLS & 2004 Forester X
Ongoing Project/Toy: 1987 RX Turbo EA82T, Speeduino ECU, Coil-pack ignition, 440cc Injectors, KONI adjustale front struts, Hybrid L Series/ Liberty AWD 5sp
Past rides: 92 L series turbo converted wagon, 83 Leone GL Sedan, 2004 Liberty GT Sedan & 2001 Outback

Thanks for that reply Gannon - even if it was not what I was hoping forGannon wrote:I tried putting an EJ auto in a FWD auto MY sedan and it wasnt even close to fitting. Tunnel mods would be needed.

Ok , so that was a FWD , I wonder if anyone knows if the 4WD auto Trany is larger and thus has a larger tunnel in the 4WD brumby/wagons ?

Rumor has it that the 4wd versions had a bigger tunnel and Im sure somebody in the past has EJ auto'd their MY, but that may have been with a lift which lowers the tranny in the tunnel

OK, a 2" lift is quite addable to my job list - hopefully some-one who has EJ auto'ed their MY will post up to let me know its doable with or without a 2" lift.Gannon wrote:Rumor has it that the 4wd versions had a bigger tunnel and Im sure somebody in the past has EJ auto'd their MY, but that may have been with a lift which lowers the tranny in the tunnel
