Michael Stahl's column this month - recalls how in 1987 he pulled out a subaru touring wagon bogged in sand dunes near Sydney airport in the middle of the night with a Toyota tercel....

Never been a 'fan' of Stahl's writing but the the fact he used a Tercel to extract a Subaru was more about his driving skills than the cars themselves (and not the point of the article!).

Yeah, we will never be able to compete with the forum dedicated to those little things. Once saw a colour graphic of a Tercel being mounted by a turtle - deaf and blind - no sense of smell ?? :p :p

Gotta give Stahl credit for being in same job 27 years later and for being able to bog someone else L !

What's the bet the Subaru was trying the harder stuff, and the Tercel was second, and hence didn't get bogged :p
