Just had a thought, it could be that only the 'Sport' model or 'Specials' in the early Series II Brumby years - say 1982 to 1988, have the intermittent set up ? Then all the later models had intermittent wipers ? Only going on what has been said here, yet to be proven ... :)

My 92 had only plain wipers, but had the white plug in the loom.
I got one lot of relay and switch from a Targa roofed Brumby

My 89 brumby doesn't have factory intermittent wipers, it does how ever have the aftermarket one, that's a relay and a rheostat in a box. It is wired to the low speed on the wiper controls.

I have recently aquired 2 intermittent wiper setups from 83 sports wagons at the wreckers.

Sunnie the Brumby - '88 build, '89 complianced targa top brumby did not have intermittent wipers as standard. These are added.

Damn, forgot the photo of the canister... I'll get one sorted now ;)

Ok, here are the pics. Also to make a fool of me there are numbers and markings on the side that faces the strut tower - and it says intermittent relay on it too.

Totally not factory. Shit location for reduction of exposure:

Canister and wiring on either side of the strut tower:

I would really like to make this look more factory but don't want to play with it when I don't understand what's been done or what needs to be done. Plus I'll run out of time with it to really sort it out.

The best I think I could do for now is get a new canister and relocated it to under the dash away from dust/moisture and heat cycles.

Cheers

G'day
I have a September 90 model special. It has the white six pin plug under the dash, with the bridging wire as originally described. So as I understand it I would only have to get a canister & wiper switch with intermittent position & I would Have working intermittent wipers. Can anyone confirm this.

Cheers Jake

G'day guys
I got the relay & switch today. Pulled the bridging plug off & plugged in the relay. Swapped my switches too & it all works perfect. Very happy & it took 10 minutes.
So the wiring is all existing in a 90 model Brumby special.

Cheers Jake

And no bugger said anything in between both your posts ! Good that it all works just the way mine did. My 84 Brumby does not have the essential white plug :( . Lucky a preloved aftermarket is in it :)
