Buying a 2000 Forester

Post by penguin » Mon Oct 29, 2012 12:13 pm

We have put the deposit on our next Subaru. It is a 03/2000 Forester, stock standard edition. It only has 155000 km, seems to run well, no rust. It needs a new windscreen, some tyres and a washer sprayer for the back window, otherwise it works as it should.

Some things it does not have that we need to procure:
Tow Bar
Roof racks
Perhaps a cargo barrier (carry a lot of heavy stuff)

Any suggestions on the Towbar, roof racks, etc would be appreciated. I looked on eBay and did a Google but the tow bars do not come cheap.

Looking forward to driving the newer models of Subarus. To date I have had six Subies, just cant seems to quit.

Congrats - sounds like a solid car

All of those items can had for nixs on ebay

Cargo barrier ~$100-150 (new $400+)

Roof racks - I sold mine for $100 (new $300+)

Towbar I paid $60 for mine (quoted $280 fitted)

I have a cargo bay mat (well used) you can have for postage

Thanks Sven

I have set up my ebay searches, so in time I should snag some reasonable used items, at the moment mostly it is new items appearing.
