Help. Need rear Strut

Post by Jens » Tue Aug 07, 2012 9:27 pm

Hi all. Had some bad luck today:sad: Was rear ended in the subi this morning on the way to work. I think the other car (2001 pulsar) is totaled. but I drove the L home okay. My towbar is bent like a banana and there is damage to the rear sill. Tailgate is straight but the latch is a bit out of alignment. Didnt even break any rear lights. Hopefully will be able to keep the subi on the road.
However, I have busted the shaft on the rear strut tonite, don't know if it's caused by the crash this morning or just unlucky to have it all happen in one day. It seemed ok this morning after the crash and I have done about 35km before it broke.
Is there any one Brisbane way have rear struts they want to sell:?: It's pretty urgent as it's my daily and my only way to get to work.

Surely there is someone over there that has L Series spares but if not Guyph might be able to send you one via the post??

I would seriously have your car checked out by a panel beater and tell them what happened so they can really check over the chassis for signs of damage, because that much damage to your towbar, surely would do some sort of damage.. Did you exchange details with the other person? and do they (and you for that matter) have insurance?

Thanks steptoe. No it's not a touring wagon. And it's the rear shock/spring I am after. Sorry about any confusion my description may have caused.

Oh.. I was thinking suspension strut. Either way Guyph should be able to help if you have no luck over your way.

I have them as well but I think postage from the West of the island will be a killer.

Well, if its a suspension strut or shock you need to ensure you have measurements of the bottom bolt hole centre to spring perch or you could really screw up. Also check the two colour daubs or splodges of paint on original coils

Thanks Mitchhsj. I did talk to the wrecker in Beerwah and he does have one. I also found one here in Brisbane at Boss Wreckers. Thanks for your offer and maybe will need something from you one day.
Thanks all.
