EA82 mpfi heads >> markings

Post by steptoe » Tue Jan 05, 2010 8:29 pm

one head has in the casting that appears next to the exhaust port, EA82 in bold characters 9mm high. The EA82 is underlined. On the top side (inlet) it has 5 JAPAN in the casting. Inside near the valve springs there is TK in a circle and a number 5.

Another head has EA82 no underline in 7mm high characters, JAPAN 3 topside, TK 3 inside.

Another is JAPAN 7, TK 7

Yet another is JAPAN 6, TK 6

Is this simply different casting factories or something to do with the rumour that there was three or so different EA82 mpfi / turbo heads on these now not so popular dinosaur engines?

Yep the different casting styles differentiates between the different revisions.

The first series of heads had issues with cracks between the valves, so in the second revision, they thickened the area below the exhaust port.
