Bought another Brumby today
Bought another Brumby today
That makes four I own now.
This one is a 92 model 240,000ks Reco motor.
Some new bits like a CV shaft, Rear exhaust, CD player.
Tyres are good, has a few months rego.
Has a tow bar but no toung
Has a few dints, needs some work done to tidy it up.
I cant find any rust in it.
spent some time fixing up the front brakes and gave it a degrease.
Done an Oil and filter change.
Might have a look at the rear brakes tomorrow and give the interior a clean up.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch! When you go to pull it out take the inner CVs too - they'll come in handy for later To do this open the boot, remove the big C ring clip that's about 3mm from the edge of the CV cup, then slide out the drive shaft. On the end of the drive shaft in all the grease will be a circlip that holds the balls and cage on the shaft, remove this and the cage will slide off. Put it back in the CV cup and put the boot back on to keep it neat - cover with a plastic bag once you're home or at the back of your car to avoid a mess or dust contamination.AshR wrote:Haha I've only bought one brumby, but could have had a gearbox for an EJ conversion already in the garage.

1 in Kempsey, to drive on father in laws farm when we visit. Fun for the kids.
1 at Bucca north of Coffs. was gunna be a padock basher but I just pinch parts off it.

the latest 92 model, the motor in this one runs pretty smooth and quiet

But still stuck with 3.7 diff ratio with the 27s. Build a foz box into EA 5spd casings and you've got a gearbox that bolts to the EA81/82, has 4.11 diff ratio and a decent low range that would work VERY well in the brumby. Was late yesterday and started to rain so couldn't get any photos especialy when there was work to be done.
The story starts Saturday.
Saturday
went out to Coramba to have a look at it.
The P plater owner was still fitting a CV shaft and Hub. The hub had chewd out because the nut was never tight enough. It gave way when driveing down a hill off camber.
The pressure was enough to strip the nut and CV threads. It had been sitting on the side of the road for 4 weeks.
In the cabang one brake pad had been destroyed and the pad mounting bracket also.
Sunday
I supplied another set of SH pads and a spare bracket I had.
Fitted the matching SH pads to the other side. Had to do the other side CV/Hub nut up cause it was loose to.
Then took it for a spin.
The young bloke found the other spares for the car and I bought it.
Went to SCA to get some engine flush, oil, a filter, degreaser , CT18 and bought a Stanley belt drive air compressor on special for $400 normaly $700.
Gave The Brumby an Oil and filter change and degrease.
