Keyless Remote

Post by Subyroo » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:40 pm

I inadvertently took my Forester Keyless Remote for a swim with my Grandson yesterday.
I did not use it afterwards to try and open the Forester, I just used the key itself and there is no problem with starting the car either.

Question:

I have located another Keyless Remote but it's for a 2004 Forester, does anybody know if the Keyless Remote board
out the 2004 key will work as a replacement in the 2003 Keyless Remote?

I know the Keyless Remote will require programming and I have found a DIY for that on the net.

P.S. I forgot to add the board and the key was dried out using the same routine for a mob ph, but the card is dead.

I would have said you can use anything you want, as long as you can program it.
Firstly, try to dry it out, rice usually works well.
Then see if it does work, you may find it does.

I have dried it out in the same manner as a mob ph but the card is dead! hence the OP.

Yeah it should work, nearly all the immobiliser keys are compatable with each other from what I have read. Apparently you can buy the actual SMD microchip, resolder it to your board and reprogram it too
