Post by niterida » Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:43 pm

Anybody know 100% what the diff ratio is for a 99 GT Forester with Auto transmission ?
The transmission code I have is TZ1A3ZB2AA but I have been unable to find info on it so far.

Is it the same code as your original box? as I have found the autos in the Impreza/Forester (same unit) to be different to the Liberty/Outback range.. mainly has to do with the different wiring config between the 2 models

Don't know - haven't checked my code yet. Its from the same model year so I'm hoping it won't be too much work. Plus its so cheap that its almost free :-)

If it's that cheap you may want to ask questions but if you end up getting it then I'd recommend that you put the 2 boxes side-by-side (once you have yours out) and check pin for pin in the 2 large plugs at the top of the box.. it may save you some headaches

its just a gearbox on its own so only have the transmission code.

Decided it doesn't really matter anyway - I will just get a rear diff to match if it is wrong and put it in my Gen2 wagon instead.

If my research is correct there are only 4.11 or 4.44 ratios in AUDM autos.
My Gen3 Outback will be 4.44 and my Gen2 Liberty will be 4.11 so this box will fit one or the other and since they both need a new gearbox I can't go wrong :-)
