any signmakers, CNC access people?

Post by steptoe » Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:56 am

anyone in here got access to computerised machining like the router tables the sign makers have?

Thinking the badge on MY guards that has SUBARU on it, thinking some talented person must be able to conjure up a badge in aluminum in same size design and font for BRUMBY

I'm friends with a guy who has his own light engineering business, and you should see his shed! Heaven :D

Anyway I could ask him if he could do the badge if you want? Do you mean the badge that's black with SUBARU written in chrome?
Will it ever end!?

Nice idea, I'll be in for a pair if they are not a silly price.

That is correct badge on the guards , so one each side. It'd be done in aluminium plate of 5 or 6mm thickness. Know it can be done. Used to be on terms with a guy that had a sign router but he was a fair weather kind of guy when he needed me or anyone else.

Maybe search off shore in Vietnam or China, copy letter (font) style and same depth, supply in raw state and let purchaser finish off the black.

SUBARU
BRUMBY

same number of letters and same proportions of each letter, no 'i's in change it should al fit nice.

If we could get someone to CAD it and make sample then get a commitment to pay upfront and get them delivered, insured within say a month of bulk order - all pie in sky at this stage.

Cost is a factor. A man has a $40,000 router he needs a return...... so we need a sneaky staffer :)

I know a real sign writer who knows the nasty basty I may be able to get to try one, but nasty basty will know immediately who it's for. He may know someone else

Jonno - that could easy be done on a small 3 axis cnc milling centre - bet a pound to a dollar there is such a machine within 20 kms of you ! Just another option if you struggle with a sign router m/c

Easy enough to program too if the operator is competent.

Now that I come to think of it, Giles, I am looking to spend big money on a little router that can do the job - in fact all us MY owners are. if you wanna rough up some raw samples of what your machines can do - we all need a pair each at cost plus postage, I may think about it
EVERYONE - PM your payment and delivery details to Giles :)
