MY MV clutch cables
Has anyone bought after market clutch cables for MY MV Brumby ?
I did years ago (flexible drive agencies) and had to modify the only one they listed to fit my 10/84 Brumby, modded at the pedal fitment. My 92 Brum with bigger clutch has an oh so heavy pedal and think it may be in the cable. It is way heavier than the GLTA EA82 same size clutch.

Maybe it needs some dry-lube stuck down the cable? Not sure if that would help but I think that'd probably be preferable to some kind of oil. I'm guessing you are referring to a clutch cable to suit the original 4spd? When converting to 5spd you use a standard L series clutch cable and those work great aslong as they are in good condition. I think they are about 60 bucks for a brand new one from Subaru.

I used to lube cables with a tool sold at motorcycle parts and accessories stores when racing motorcycles, allowing your choice of spray lube to to injected into the cable housing, but if its a poor quality aftermarket cable it may be too worn, or not be worth lubing, and oem parts are always a good way to go.

Yep, thanks, talking standard 4 speed 4WD clutch cable, noting that there are two different clutch cables fitted to MY. It may actually be in the clutch itself as I recall it was painted in a clear like blue paint as if a reco and after it sat for a year or so, was crunching and hard to select gears until I gave it a good workou. Has since sat another nine months but this tme no crunchy. If I remember correctly I have the replacement cable sitting idle somewhere since fitting the 5 speed in the 84 Brum so may try it in 92 and se what we get.
Interesting to know gen price not look so bad at all if quoted price is near.
It is so stiff wonder if it is cable at all, and if it is cable it may be far gone to save with lube of any kind - like wearing into outer cable....will soon see

Hey steptoe, if you are looking around at your clutch cable then chances are you have already checked this, but have a look at your pedal box. Months ago my clutch became really heavy, with really short travel, and then eventually I couldn't change gears, and then the clutch started slipping. Long story short, after a new clutch as recommended by KMart, it continued doing it and I discovered that the cable was worn and was not freely moving in the shaft. This led to the pedal box cracking along a weld, and the worn cable and broken weld coupled together would pinch the cable rather than pull it. Trip to Eblens for a new cable, and to Subareck for a pedal box solved all my problems. And hell of a lot cheaper than the new clutch was.
