Indicator stick problem

Post by yarney » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:06 pm

Hi all i have got a bad connection with our gen 3 liberty indicator stick the lights are flickering when you wiggle it (the stick that is):)

I just want to know if there is any trick or way you take the wheel off with the the air bags on it?

I undid the one screw on the plastic trim under the steering column do you squash the middle section where the two pieces join to get it apart or is there some more screws elsewhere?
Just a bit cautious where the air bags are concerned thanks

pull the battery off- let the car sit for 5-10 min then undo the tamper torx (t30 or T40) and then undo the nut that holds the wheel on. there is an alignment mark on the wheel and on the shaft. so it goes back on straight. the rest pretty much falls off :)

there is some deal with reseting the clock spring thing that connects the wiring for the airbag. basically make sure that is centralised lock to lock when the wheels are straight ahead. you dont want to run out of clock spring turns before you run out of steering wheel turns. does that make any sense?

yep you are supposed to tape it in one spot. I make a point of not moving the thing. that said IF you ar replacing one there is a procedure to follow.
