Good Suby Mechanic In Geelong?

Post by Deus_Ex_Machina » Mon Nov 09, 2009 8:48 am

Hi all,
I am looking for an alternative to dealership servicing as I have had bad experiences with the local Ford dealership at work (same owner) and don't really appreciate $60 bottles of coolant or feel the need to be served by someone in a suit in a shiny office to service my car.

Does anyone know of a good mechanic who knows the ins and outs of a Subarus. I have a 2004 Outback.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely recommend

Trent Coghlan Motors, 3 Strong St, Geelong South, Ph 5229 5727.

Always good work, always takes the time to explain things to me and knows his stuff.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]2006 Forester, AT tyres, Bash plate.
Suspension lift.

Agreed with him, Ive been there a few times with my 1st Liberty, prices are slightly cheaper than Connells Subaru in La Trobe Tce.

Other option is to take it to Subaru on La Trobe Tce, between Maud St/Kilgour St before Kardinia Park.

Thanks for the tips guys. I know Subaru Geelong will sprook thwey have all the latest equipment yadda yadda but is anything really special required or just a decent mechanic? I recently changed the coolant, oil, and oil filter before heading off on an interstate trip last week but am not confident with the upper engine cleaner and changing diff oil etc. Do the dealerships have any special diagnostic gear or is it just smoke and miorrors?

dealership does connect up the car to inspect in good operating order. With the rear diff is very easy, there is two 1/2" socket drive nuts, undo bottom one that is on the cover, and the oil will flow out, and open the other one in the middle, you put the oil in that one, best is to use squeeze bottle with long tube to squeeze it in.
Top engine clean, there is a small vacuum hose abt 1/4" small on your inlet manifold, its enough to keep the engine running while you squirt it in but you'll need to rev the engine up a bit to stop from stalling.
