156.9 km/h on the GPS with a good EJ18 in my L with 26" tyres. Half-stuffed EJ22 still wouldn't quite crack 160. 4th and 5th got pretty similar results.

cf 183km/h on the same GPS in an EF (on the limiter), and 200 on the speedo in an EB, both lowered with big exhausts. Stock VL wagon did about 170 km/h, and the 2002 Outback H6 has been just past 200. The work 100 Series diesel after a long run-up got 140km/h on a slight downhill.

All on a private test track with appropriate safety measures in place ;)

140 on a gravel road in a stock 91 brumby on the way to conargo pub. It wasn't stable at all and scared the sh*t out of my mate, who was whinging about how slow and sh*tty the brumby was for the previous five hours

Did you have it in 4wd? If not that's simply crazy! And it would also explain the lack of stability...

not too long ago I had to get home from Perth in a hurry, needless to say I wound the spring up on the brumby and had her sitting comfortably on 160 KM/h on the straights (this was on the old road not that new bit with all the mounted cameras) at three in the morning it is a quick journey

I think I had my Touring Wagon up to 135ish on the way home from work in sydney a few times. Downhill coming off a bridge. It was only for a few seconds before I chickened out.

I haven't had the Outback much past 120, though I haven't tried. Too many damn coppers around perth. And when I'm coming home from night shift I'm too tired and there are too many roos to try. I'd love to get onto the airport one day and have a go down the runway, but I doubt they'd let me in just 'cos I asked. haha.
Living in Canada now. Looking at all these SVXs for sale...
